What's famous in Kuala Selangor? 

Kuala Selangor is a small coastal town located in Selangor state. It's only an hour and a half's drive from Kuala Lumpur. Formerly known as the old royal capital of Selangor, it has a rich diversity in history, nature and wildlife. It was a quiet town whose economy is driven by fishing industry in the straits of Melaka until the discovery of Sky Mirror. As today it has become a popular tourist destination in Malaysia.

Earlier in 2016, a group of travel enthusiasts having got to know about the mystery island from the fishermen. It's almost the best kept secret within the town only known to the locals. They decided to explore and what they discovered was a piece of untouched land that stunningly reflects the clear blue sky. These are the pioneers of the island's discovery who then named the place as Sky Mirror.

With the support from the local council and residents, Sky Mirror was introduced in 2016. It became an immediate sensation with a remarkable number of visitors worldwide visiting the town. In 2017, Sky Mirror was further recognized when its official jetty was launched. 

Recently in 2021, a guide to Sky Mirror Kuala Selangor booklet launched to enhance tourist experiences. 

The launch was officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Hee Loy Sian, Chairman of Standing Committees of Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Orang Asli Affairs of Selangor state.

When to visit Sky Mirror?

Do take note before visit this mystery island as it will only emerge for several days every month during the 1st and 15th of a lunar month as well as 4 days before or after these dates. Sky Mirror is actually a seabed that appears above water for a few hours at low tide exposing an expansive sandbar as huge as 50 football fields. While the Sky Mirror happens in the day time, it's also can be happen during sunset but only available for 12 days in a year. 

How to go to Sky Mirror?

Boats depart from the Sky Mirror Jetty in Kuala Selangor. The entire duration is approximately 2-3 hours which includes the scenic boat ride to and from Sky Mirror.  

Tips:- wear comfortable attire, apply sunscreen and touched down with barefoot on Sky Mirror.

What to do at Sky Mirror?

Once you step onto Sky Mirror, the unparalleled paradise beauty of the mystery island will take your breath away. You can physically walk on the seabed and capture the unique moments in its all natural reflective surroundings.

Besides having fun capturing photo, Sky Mirror is also home to a multitude of marine life. Be careful when walking with barefoot. Observe and guess the interesting marine organisms found such as sand dollars, sea clams, baby clams, sea anemones, shore crabs, red crabs, soldier crabs, bamboo clams, sea grapes, bailer shell, sea snails and variety of shells. Sky Mirror also supports marine conservation to minimize impact on the marine life environment, a gentle reminder on the following to help maintain the environment throughout the trip
  • do not throw any rubbish, take it away with you where it can be disposed of properly afterwards
  • if you see rubbish please help collect it to keep the island clean
  • avoid collecting shells dead or alive or sand as keepsakes
  • take only photographs, leave only footprints
