Nursing Bra Shopping Guide | Mamaway Bra Review


As a first time mum to be, a lot of things is going on. As I'm writing this, I'm into my third trimester. That's mean I got to get ready a lot of things for the newborn and also not forgetting about myself. One of the important things is to get a new bra. Not a regular bra but a bra that can work from pregnancy to nurse a baby soon.

When to get a nursing bra?

In the early pregnancy, breast was so sore, tender to touch and started to feel some changes going on. The current regular bra is still wearable if comfortable. Until you're into half pregnancy or late second trimester or early third trimester, there is no rush to buy a new bra. This is because your rib cage can expand and your breasts may go up another cup size or two after newborn arrives and your milk comes in. 


Tips to measure nursing bra size

There are many brands that has different in size chart. Example some looking into cm or inches and cup before finalizing on size S/M/L/XL/XXL. Some brand I'm wearing S and some M. So remember to understand their size chart first before overbuy.

How to choose a nursing bra?
  • I want to wear a bra that work from pregnancy to nurse a baby
  • I want to wear a comfortable material
  • I want a good quality bra at a reasonable price
Actually nursing bra look like a sport bra. If you worn one before it's almost alike that feeling. Non-wire, stretchable and supportive. To add on what nursing bra got to offer are clip down to nurse baby, bra extender and some even with antibacterial innovation.

Recently I got to try out a nursing bra from Mamaway brand made in Taiwan. Let me highlight some of their features that are a little bit different than the other nursing bra that I have been wearing.

From top adjustable bra strap with lining deco. Mamaway logo part is clip down with one hand to nurse baby. Outer bra lining is very neat sewing.


Mamaway required you to measure under bust in cm only to determine your size in S/M/L/XL/2XL. Of course non wire and it's stretchable for your transforming body.


4 sets of hook eye only. No extra bra extender. I think it's enough for the flexibility. Once hooked up, it has the U back shaped for a comfortable wearing.


Let see the most important inner part of the Mamaway nursing bra. Sewn in soft pads which means you never need to remove the pads out to wash and fixing it afterwards. The soft pads also has a perforated design to help air circulate within and cooling effects from wearing all day long. The outer pads design can stretch up to 3 cups to accommodate your breast changes from pregnancy to breast feeding soon.

Mamaway nursing bra has a Meryl skin life fibers which contains naturally bacterio static silver ions to inhibit growth of bacteria and anti odor properties. Other materials include nylon, spandex and polyester.

Overall I feel comfortable wearing it and my breast is well supported during pregnancy while there's space for breast engorgement after giving birth.

Tips to care for nursing bra

You can wash your bra every day or after each 2 wear is fine. Hand wash is always recommended versus machine wash but do learn the right technique. It won't easily change shape.

How many nursing bra you should have?

Now comes to the calculation for example if you only does laundry once a week, with every 2 wears, you got to have at least 3-4 nursing bra at the moment of your pregnancy.
